Weekly Update Time!
 Hey y'all, I am DeBritto <3

Here we go again guys, this week my three topics went hard on social media. J Cole is still sending out his heartfelt tweets; Roc Nation has been continually promoting the artist under its label; and Jay Z is doing what he does best, being Jay Z. Once again this week I took a few tweets  to analyze and decipher.

As seen above in J. Cole's tweet, he gave shout outs to his boys from Dreamville Records. Happy Birthday to Dreamville's manager  Ibrahim H. (@KingOfQueenz). Cole made use of the @ in this tweet, not only showing love to his friends, but also promoting them as well. The @ symbol is so powerful, a seemingly simple tweet can become a sort of advertisement for the world to see with just a shift click. Many people probably did not know who Ibrahim H. was, many people probably don't know Dreamville artist Bas either! Some artist outshine the rest like Cole and it is understandable. Anyways, I like Cole because he does't hesitate to use his ethos to ensure his friends and fellow lyricist are also known for their work. Respect.

I chose this roc nation tweet because I really feel the (hashtag) ThrowBackThursday. The throw back thursday has become a weekly routine for our generation (for those who don't know, a throw back is a old picture). Wale's hit No Days off his album Ambition, now has a video to it! Thus the #tbt, his album Ambition was released in the stone age, 2011. This tweet/video combination contains pathos because it emotionally appeals to those who enjoy some old fashion Wale, allowing fans to "relive" (said in the tweet) the moment. Relive it now! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ete_NYg7skM

Jay z  posted a Picture and link about his "Picasso Baby," performance from Life & Times. In this performance Jay Z interacted with fans in a whole new way. He just stood in the middle of a crowd and allowed fans to come see him in person. His type of hype and ethos is unparalleled, because not many artist could pull off this sort of stunt. Logos wise, this was a very strategical move he pulled, because it allowed him to further advertise himself as a lyrical legend. Also, can we appreciate how fresh this man is? That white T… That gold chain.. Fire.

This week, I got to give it to the social media underdog Roc Nation. The #tbt is almost too classic, plus the pathos relation, letting people experience an oldie once more definitely has some emotional appeal. And let's not forget that direct link allowing viewers to see it immediately, this tweet is on steroids. Nice job stepping up your twitter game Roc Nation. Job well done indeed.

A Happy Valentine's Day Weekly Post! <3

Hey everyone, let me spread some love this Valentine's week with some brand new info on our beloved artist and record label. J. Cole decided to directly share one his top hits on the mixed tape "Revenge of the Dreamers," Jay Z has came out with a new cologne, (Get ready men, maybe we can get our own Beyonce now!) and Roc Nation shares some info on its very own player Skylar Diggins of the Tulsa Shock WNBA team.

 J. Cole chose to help out his "TALENTED,"(can't forget that emphasis, capitalizing certain words on twitter definitely draws the attention of viewers) music artist Treasure Davis. J. Cole was a feature on her song "May The Bitter Man Win," making a fantastic combo of sweet tunes and poetic verses. It is song's like this one that make me LOVE music and a fan of J. Cole. In the tweet, J. Cole put a sound cloud link, making it easy for fans to click and jam out to tunes immediately. Of course as a music artist, it is important to get your talent heard, and sound cloud is becoming a great site for music sharing. This method is highly logical, that is sharing music through social media, so let us call it an appeal to logos. The cover of those sexy legs, which probably belong to the beautiful Treasure Davis are a form of pathos because of the emotions they may stir within some fans. At least they definitely made me want to listen.

Roc Nation advertised the movements of its very own WNBA star Skylar Diggins who turnt up at the sprint post up along with some others under the Jay Z label. What a Shock! (You get it? What a Shock? She plays for Tulsa Shock… if you did not) Anyways! Roc Nation like most weeks did what it does best, help its star's shine! No picture, no link, just a hashtag and @ because thats all it takes for the successful company to advertise about its members.
Here it is folks! The answer, GOLD by Jay Z!  Jay Z strategically released his new fragrance this Valentine's week to help us men out with the ladies. HOVA's new cologne will no doubt be a top seller because his "crazy" ethos, he is easily one of the most respectable artist in the game. Obviously he posted a picture of the bottle, with such a simple yet elegant look. You see those likes??? Saying people are exited to sniff this new scent would be an understatement. Because of the great timing of his new cologne (Valentine's Week), Jay Z wins the post of the week again.

Some info on Social Media, Brand info etc.

Since a brand is how a person or company is seen, J. Cole, Jay Z, and Roc Nation definitely have strong brand names. Because my topics are well known they are easily differentiated from others. The specific brand from these rap artist could be considered their actual rap style, because every rapper has his/her own flow and use of word play. As a label company Roc Nation shares it brand with the members of its community. For example, Kevin Durant, a basketball player from OKC is seen as being part of the Roc Nation Empire.

I do not think I would handle any of the social media mistakes any differently than the other companies/organizations such as Red Cross. If something offensive or just plan inappropriate made its way into my twitter or Facebook page the best plan of action would be to delete it, apologize, and hope for the fans let it go. Using social media has its negatives along with the positives, one small slip up and all it takes is one person to comment to ruin your reputation.

Hey there again folks, its about that time again for a DeBritto Weekly Update!
This week  my big 3's social media has had some sneak peeks, insiders, and basketball highlights! What more could a Roc Nation fan ask for?

Yo Gotti's song "Cold Blooded" featuring J. Cole which was released on the 19th of November in Yo Gotti's album "I am," now has a video to it. J. Cole shared this to his fans through his Facebook, adding a direct link to youtube for our convenience to view a sneak peek, leaving fans yearning to see the rest. Yo Gotti and J. Cole are both well known and successful artist, because of their reputation people were excited to actually see what type of music these two rap geniuses would put together.

This post Jay Z shared from his own news website Life+Times a link to Off The Wall featuring the amazing album cover artist Mario Hugo. Mario talked about the  process of picking an appropriate cover for Roc Nation song artist Rihanna and J. Cole. If you watch the video for yourself, you'll see the amount of effort they put into creating these covers, so that the images may emotionally appeal to the fans or just someone trying to listen to something new.

Roc Nation Sports tweeted about one of its signed professional ball players hailing from the OKC Thunder, Kevin Durant, who averaged about 30 points a game. There ain't no time for scrubs in Kevin Durant's schedule, he has been bringing the heat and taking names this season. Because KD has been a fierce competitor this past January, Roc Nation did not hesitate to show off what its crew members bring to the table this week through twitter.

To summarize, this week my 3 topic choices have utilized the aspect of adding a direct video onto their social media websites. As the music industry goes, streaming videos to fans is definitely one of the most effective ways to have their voices heard. Not to much pathos or logos found directly within these Tweets and Facebook post, at least with the main text. But, I believe Roc Nation takes the cake in this weekly update with the most entertaining video being NBA superstar Kevin Durant.
